Hello to the world today..
well i went to school today...
anyway,we went to King's School in Exeter. This is my second time as a visitor and i was not as nervous as my first time.I forgot to post my first time to St.Peters.Sorry.:p
anyway,Alex drove me,Am and her brother, Pip.Karen drove Chris (he's from Ghana) and Toby(He's from Jamaica).
Actually i was really prepared with issues around me today.
i read about Gaza and Israel, about Hajj, about 'Zakat'and also about our way of slaughtering the animals.
hmm i guess i was sooo wrong people.
I never got a chance to be asked that kind of questions at the first place.
Fyi,the school that i went today is considered a rural school. But still, if you were to put that kind of school in Malaysia, it doesn't considered rural at all.Cantik okeh.
The first class i entered, they were very much interested in animals.Gosh,i don't know how to answer when one boy kicked off and asked me 'Mira,do you like lions?'dem it's freezing cold outside and that was the best question you can ask!!
Another student went'Do you have pets?,and 'Do you like cat or dog?'. iskk rasa mau tumbuk jer tapi sebab dorang comel, saya lemah.so the first quarter wasted with very much superficial questions. So, during the lunch break,i concluded to Kevin and the other school teachers that my students are very shy and not brave enough to ask me matured questions.
After the break, i went to the same class with a hope that they probably had a thought on what they are going to ask me.Gosh, tak berubah! So, i felt that i'm the one who suppose to ask them questions just to make them on track with me.Basically what we talked in the second session were about bullying in school, how do you treat a Muslim,What are the differences between Christianity and Islam?,Why i have to wear headscarf? and terrorism and media.Basically, they had no ideas about this kind of things actually because they are in the rural area of Exeter. They don't even watch the news because according to them, it's boring.According to Mrs,Jenny, the PE teacher, after i left for another class they went quite with their new visitor,Pip.
So, then i went to my second classroom. This one was very3 interesting though. We were laughing ,debating and involving in very much matured Q & A sessions. One of the students,Scott was really2 cheeky. He was the one who made the Q & A session livelier with his stupid and funny questions. Then another boy asked me whether i believe in Jesus. After i answered that, the class teacher gave him a thumbs up.Yeah good one though.Another boy made me demonstrated on how Muslims pray.I had to be in the middle of the group and showed them how we pray.Interesting for me and also for them. The teacher asked me how difference is the way of slaughtering in Islam from other religion. What i did is, i picked this one boy and turned him into a chicken.I even used 'electric shock' and asked him how he feels. Then only I demonstrated the way we use in Islam.I used my finger as the knife and slaughtered his neck. While i was doing that, i explained to them why Muslims are required to eat halal meat.
Basically that was what i experienced today.
Here i would like to conclude about the questions that were asked to me:
They like you(Anna Marie,2009).
Students from both of the classrooms asked me almost the same questions. They even asked about my sibs.I was shocked when they asked me the name of my siblings and what are they doing now. What Azalia and Asyran got to do with this project people???.Anyway, i just answered. One of the boys even requested to see my family picture.Gosh!personal ok.
They even asked me, 'Do you live in a mansion in Malaysia?'.I was laughing and i asked him why.he said ' ouh nothing, i just thought you come from a very rich and well-known family..Sorry people, i was laughing out loud in the classroom along with the teachers.Innocent sungguh dia berfikir.
There were many interesting things happened but these are what i'm gonna share.
Somehow, we came from animal kingdom. That's what most people believe. But i do feel that certain traits in human are more likely the same with animals.
When animals face their enemies or an incident, there are three things that they choose to do.
They fight, they fly or they freeze.
The same goes to human.Talking about choice,we have our own choice in life.Seeing other people in different countries struggling with their life, what do we do?
We run away, we talk about it or we just wait and see if other people come and rescue them.Personally, what i wanted to say here is about Gaza.If i were to be in Malaysia now, i am less likely to be affected by it.I told this to my first class and a 13 years old girl went and said, 'when you are with your family, you don't think about other people because you are happy with your mom and dad'.Ohh yes!very true.i liked to take things for granted back in Malaysia.
Then she asked me why i should be affected by it when i am now in the UK.I said to her that in Islam, one is not complete as a true Muslim if he does not love his own brothers and sisters. In Islam,we are like family.Gosh, i don't know what in the world has got me today when i said that to her.
Personally, i am grateful to be here.I'm blessed.
